LADY DUCKS PLAYERS FILL THE RANKS AT DISTRICT SELECT CAMP
5/10/2012
Congratulations to the dozens of Lady Ducks who were selected from California to participate at the Pacific District Select Camp in May! This is a tremendous honor and recognition of your skills and high level of play!  Not only were a many of the girls at camp from the Lady Ducks but also, several LD girls will move on to the National Development camps in June and July.  More info on Selectees to come soon!
ALL FOUR AAA LADY DUCKS MAKE NATIONALS!
4/12/2012
Congratulations to the ENTIRE TIER I - AAA Lady Ducks TEAMS who, for the first time, ALL made it to USAH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.  All teams faced very tough competition during the week in Marlborough, MA but fared well against their opponents.  The 12u team, making its final trip to nationals, fought hard in their loses but faced three teams who all earned medals in the championship.  The 16u girls, as a mostly first-year 16 group, played well but fell to some very tough opponents in the round robin.  The 19u team, put up strong fights against 2 of the TOP teams in the country.  It was a great effort as a group who had so many first-time Nationals participants. Finally,  CONGRATS to the 14uAAA LD team, for taking home a bronze medal and having a great showing in the tournament, losing to eventual champion, Assabet Valley.

Our Tier II program is really getting off the ground with the 12AA team making it to the District Finals, falling to San Jose's TOP 12u team. In addition, the 14AA team defeated the only other California 14aa team in the District round robin, giving them a win and bragging rights in California, heading into next year!  Great effort by all of our teams this past season!

FORMER LADY DUCK KALIYA JOHNSON...
3/5/2012
Kaliya Johnson, a former member of the Lady Ducks developmental hockey program, is a national finalist for the 2011 Sullivan Award, which honors the nation’s most outstanding amateur athlete. Presented annually since 1930, the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Sullivan Award is based on the merits of character, leadership and sportsmanship within amateur athletics. Via aausullivan.org, the public is encouraged to vote for one of the nine finalists from a variety of sports, including hockey, speed skating, football, volleyball, gymnastics, track and field, rowing, diving, and water polo.

As a blueliner, Johnson played for the Lady Ducks of the Anaheim Amateur Hockey Association for six years from 2004-10. In May 2011, she was invited to participate in her third USA Hockey Development Camp, which would earn her a spot on the USA Select Team roster. She went on to represent Team USA at the 2012 Under-18 Women’s World Championship in the Czech Republic, helping lead her county to a silver medal. A native of Los Angeles, CA, Johnson is currently playing at the North American Hockey Academy in Vermont.

The 82nd James E. Sullivan Award Ceremony will be held Tuesday, Mar. 20 at the New York Athletic Club in New York, NY. Previous Sullivan Award recipients from recent years include Evan Lysacek (2010), Tim Tebow (2007), Michael Phelps (2003), Sarah Hughes (2002), and Michelle Kwan (2001). For more information on the 2012 Sullivan Award and to vote for Johnson, visit aausullivan.org.
