LD Girls Pretty in PINK !
10/27/2013

The Lady Ducks wore PINK all month as the  club promoted Breast Cancer awareness and donated $300 from proceeds of t-shirt sales to the Susan G. Komen Foundation!!  This was one of several community awareness and support activities that the Lady Ducks are involved in Annually. The 16AAA team is shown below after their off-ice training session.  A Bright Sunny Day in Pink for the LD program… just another Great Day for Hockey!

Fire and ICE Weekend!!
10/17/2013
LADY DUCKS 14s, 16s and 19s COMPETE in front of COLLEGE SCOUTS!!

The core of the Lady Ducks High School program (8th graders - Seniors) will be in Rochester, NY this weekend to compete against other TOP teams from North America!  The 19AAA team (Ranked top 10 Nationally) is looking to show off its amazing core of 10-12th graders and give the college scouts what they are looking for to finalize recruiting selections!  We are looking for an outstanding weekend from this group.

On Deck, the 16AAA team (also Top 10 in USAHockey), will look to send images of skill, play-making ability and desire into the scouts eyes during the Fire and Ice weekend.  A strong scoring team, the 16s are also strong and ruthless on Defense and outstanding in net, which is a great combination for success!  Colleges look at the 9-11th graders here and take Big Time notes on the ones to watch and who to recruit for their futures class.

Finally, the 14AAA teams are the top 7-9th graders in So Cal and are making their first Nationally competitive tournament of the season.  This is the Weekend that the Minor scouts and prep schools put players "On their Radar" and give the young stars and opportunity to compete against top North American Competition.  This is the weekend the 14AAA finds its true competition heading toward a season of preparing for Nationals and the top teams in USAHockey.

The 19AA and 14AA teams are also on a Mission!  19AA players have Division III scouts watching their recruits and begin to make a short list of top talent for Division III college hockey programs.  These teams have "younger" players on them also who are looking for competitive development in a serious environment... working toward possible AAA (and collegiate) level play in the future.

Good luck to all teams this weekend!!  Go for it!! You have worked hard so far this summer... The Fall is here... the SEASON is upon us.... Remember....  The Will to Win is not nearly as Important as the WILL to PREPARE to WIN!

10u Select and 12AA teams compete in Modified B League
10/17/2013
Its a SUCCESS!!

After only 6 weeks, the South County/San Diego B League is offering GREAT competition and less travel than SCAHA... and the players and parents are loving it!  Teams play both "local" games and "regional" games to give these teams their CLUB style games and the close scores and positive atmosphere have been a big plus for everyone.  So far the LD 10u Select team has jumped out undefeated but the 12AA girls are also in the mix winning and losing some great games.  The goal is to keep development as a priority by offering appropriate competition and NOT being entered into in-house, when the teams are a bit too strong.  This league is truly preparing these teams for the next level as the 12AA team used their first 3 games to help catapult them to victory at the Girls 12u CAHA weekend.  The 10 Select team now know they are ready to work into 12AA division and compete in tougher level Squirt SCAHA holiday tourneys. Keep up the good work Ladies!!
Lady Ducks Dominate at CAHA South Weekend
10/1/2013
There were LD colors all around The Rinks, Lakewood ICE September 27-29th as the Lady Ducks program skated hard and came out as Big Winners at the CAHA South Girls weekend.  The Lady Ducks Fall Classic hosted teams from Colorado, Arizona and California at 8u, 10u, 12u, 12AAA/14AA, 14AAA/16AA, 16AAA/19AA divisions.

The results were positive in many ways.

First off, the LD AA teams are taking big leaps forward as they typically compete against other clubs' TOP teams, who are playing at AA as well as the AAA younger teams.  The 12AA 14AA, 16AA and 19AA teams had intense competition and showed coaches improvement, hard work and the desire to get better this Fall and Winter.  Every AA team played opponents tight and earned respect from their coaches... and each team will compete for the Tier II Pacific District Championships in Anchorage, AK next March.

8u:  The LD 05-06s dominated their only opponent Sharks Girls, in a series of cross ice (modified rink) games.  EVERY member of the 8u girls scored goals AND had assists in this event.  Also, three different girls played goalie for the squad in the New 8u Goalie equipment!!  It was a great weekend.

10u:  The Lady Ducks 10Select team won the Division handily going undefeated... this is a powerhouse group of 10u players who will look to play 12u in January...  BUt, the story of the weekend was the LD minor team (almost all 2004s) coming up big and competing head to head with the Sharks 10u squad.  The 04s are developing nicely and showed that as they grow into their positioning and play-making experiences they will be even better for their next tournament! Great stuff! Congratulations to the 10u Select Champions!

12u:  The Sharks, Lady Ducks 12AA and Lady Kings all competed in this AA level division.  And... Surprise!! The Lady Ducks 12AA team knocked off the youth-peewee B-playing Lady Kings in the Final with an outstanding effort from one end of the rink back down!!  Congratulations to the 12u champions!!  the Lady Ducks 12uAA team!!

14uAA/12AAA division:  6 teams went in an the 12uAAA girls emerged into the Finals vs. the CO Lady  Roughriders 14AA team.  The LD 12AAA (01-02-03s) played this 99-00 team very tough and were leading 1-0 throughout most of the game.  Some unfortunate turnovers and the 14aa RRs powered past the 12s in the end, winning 3-1.  Congratulations to the 14AA Finalists, 12AAA LD team!

14AAA/16AA Division:  Coach Dani Ahumada set out to Win this Tournament...  and that is exactly what happened!  Despite having to play a meaningless round robin game 3 hours before their Final, the LD 14AAA skated to victory over the SJ Sharks 14u-I team in the finals.  Congratulations to the 14AAA LD CHAMPIONS!!

16AAA/19AA Division:  The 16AAA team went undefeated in this division outscoring opponents by more than 25 goals!  9 different players scored goals for the 16AAA squad on their way to victory in the Final.  Congratulations 16AAA on your Championship!
Casino Night Thank You!!
7/8/2013
Thank you to all who participated in the 1st Annual LD Casino Night!  A special thanks go to The Coleman Family and Doug's Downtown Grill, Ann Marie Hull and ALL of  our table sponsors:   Wells Fargo, The Pankowski Family, Athletic Sports Fund of America, Fifth Third Bank Auto Finance, Anaheim Ducks Die Hards, The Fields Family, SCS Wise, The San Roman Family and Sterling O.C. Enterprises.  With your help we were able to raise much needed funds to help support and grow the the Lady Ducks hockey program.  Your support and the donations made during the event make it possible for us to continue our pledge to grow the game of hockey for girls, in southern California.  We look forward to each season as we develop female hockey players to be successful and confident young women, from the youngest ages through competitive collegiate opportunities and beyond.

We hope to see all of you and more next year!

Things to Know
Private and Semi-Private training:

Lady Ducks coaching staff: Kathy McGarrigle, Tracy Frazer, Alaina Clark, Dani Ramirez and Jessica Hawkins work with the Lady Ducks players on skating, stick handling, passing and shooting skills during Private Lessons, semi-private or small group instruction, at weekly clinics and off ice skill sessions. You don't have to be on a Lady Ducks team to get started taking your game to a higher level. We encourage all girls to take some time to improve their individual skills outside of team practices and are available almost every day to schedule convenient instruction.
